Transfer files from Android to PC using WiFi
WiFi is another way to transfer data between Android and PC. You will need a third-party application.
- You can set your Android device up as a mobile hotspot simply by clicking the quick control panel. Turn on the hotspot, and connect to your computer via this connection.
- You will need to use a third-party application like Feem to complete the process. You will need a password and an ID to log in to your account.
- Select the destination device and click on Send File. Click on Send File to browse for the File that you wish to send.
Bluetooth: Transfer files from Android to Bluetooth
Make sure Bluetooth is turned on on your phone and computer.
- Go to Bluetooth settings on your computer (you can search “Bluetooth” in your Start menu).
- Choose your Android phone from this list and pair it.
- You might be asked to enter a security number that will be sent; otherwise you are paired.
- It is possible that you will need to enable receiving files from your smartphone on your computer. This option can be found by clicking on “Send or Receive Files via Bluetooth” at the top of the Bluetooth options.
- Locate the File that you want to transfer from your smartphone (e.g. A photo. Select the “Share option”.)
- Save to your PC via Bluetooth.
Cloud Services allows you to transfer files from Android to your PC
Uploading FileFile to the cloud is the best option if you need to send large files by email, Bluetooth transfer or messaging. You must have signed up for one of the many Cloud service providers. You may not have heard of the following cloud service providers: Google Drive, Box.com and Dropbox.
- Log in to the cloud account from your smartphone and personal computer.
- Once you are done, upload all your data to the cloud service, including images, documents and audio files. To upload content, you can either download the app or log in directly to the service provider’s site.
- After the FileFile has been uploaded to the cloud server you can log into your computer or laptop to download the files.
Cloud services offer limited storage space, which is a problem. To upload files, you will need to pay a fee. E.g. Google Drive offers 15GB of space free, and then the cloud space is created.
Use the USB Cable to transfer photos from your Android phone to your Windows laptop
Your phone will need to be unlocked.
- Use a compatible USB connector to connect the phone and the laptop.
- Then, you will need to tap on the “Charging this Device via USB” popup at the bottom.
- Under “Use USB For”, you will see a list of options; choose the option “File transfer”.
- It will open a window on your computer from which you can access your photos.
- You can also access your photos by clicking on Windows Explorer, and choosing “This PC” from its menu.
- You can locate the connected phone in devices.
- You can choose it and select internal storage.
- The photos can be accessed in the “DCIM”, or “Pictures,” folders.
- Any photo you take with your phone can be copied and pasted to your computer.
- When you’re done, you can remove your phone from the computer and then unplug the USB cord.
Use the USB Cable to transfer photos from your Android phone to your Apple laptop
Mac OS X 10.5 or higher is required to transfer photos from Android phones to macOS laptops.
- Download and install Android File Transfer on your laptop.
- Open “Android File Transfer”.
- Connect your phone to the computer using a compatible USB cable.
- Then, you will need to tap on the “Charging this Device via USB” popup at the bottom.
- Under “Use USB For”, you will see a list of options; choose the option “File transfer”.
- A “Android File Transfer” window will appear.
- Alternatively, if it doesn’t pop up, locate it in Finder > Application, and click on “Android file transfer” to open.
- Drag the photos to the laptop that you want to transfer.
- Once the transfer is completed, unplug the USB Cable.
Use the USB cable to transfer photos from your iPhone to your Windows laptop
To transfer photos from your iPhone to a Windows OS laptop, iTunes must be installed.
- Use a compatible USB cable to connect the iPhone.
- You may be asked if you trust your iPhone after unlocking it.
- Windows 8 or 10 users can click the Start button to open the Photos app.
- Click on “Import” in the upper right corner of your screen. Choose “From a USB device”.
- The Import Items window will open.
- To highlight all photos from your last import, you can use the select menu
- You can also set the select menu option to null and click on the boxes next to each image you wish to transfer.
- To start the transfer click the import button. Once it is complete, unplug your USB.
- Windows 7 will prompt you to enable AutoPlay once your phone is connected.
- choose “Import photos and videos using Windows”.
- Click on the photo you wish to import and select the files.
- After the transfer is completed, disconnect the USB cable.
Use the USB cable to transfer photos from iPhones to Mac laptops
- Use a compatible USB cable to connect the iPhone and computer.
- You may be asked if you trust your iPhone after unlocking it.
- The Photos app will open automatically. You can also open it by clicking on the Photos icon on your computer.
- From the “Import To” menu at top of the screen, you can select where to move your photos.
- After import, you can choose to delete your photos.
- To import new photos from your smartphone, you can select the “Import All New Items” option.
- You can also click on “Import Selected” and transfer the images you choose.
- The Photos app can be used to view your photos on your Apple laptop.
- The images can be found in the Imports tab.
- Once the transfer is completed, unplug the USB Cable.
Email to transfer photos from your phone to your laptop
- Open your phone’s mail app and create a new email.
- You can add your email address as a recipient.
- Click on the attachment button or paperclip to attach a photo.
- Send an email with a subject tag.
- Access the email from your laptop.
- Click on the Download button to save the image to your computer at a location of your choosing.
